To help end intersex genital mutilation, please stop conflating sex traits with gender identity.

A person on social media wrote to me, “I am male?” When I asked if they were a man.

I then told them this describes their endosex sex traits since they did not say they had intersex physiology.

Then I asked: “What is your gender identity?”

I still do not know this person’s gender identity. They would not describe it to me. You see, like most everyone born endosex and cisgender, they were taught they could conflate their sex traits with their gender identity, and I am simply to assume.

You see, I refuse to participate in conflating sex traits with gender identity. I refused to assume that just because this person said they were “male,” they were a “man.”

Here is why: With my type of intersex traits, my sex traits are INTERSEX.

My gender identity is MAN. I was not born in the wrong body either.

It’s because I don’t match, male/man, that “experts” say I need surgery. When I do not agree. My genital integrity is important to me.

This is one reason why intersex babies are forced into medically unnecessary cosmetic genital surgeries when under the age of consent. Especially when assigned female/girl! Plus, a girl should be able to be a girl and keep their Phallus or Phallo-clitoris if they want it!

According to “experts,” supposedly a girl can not have a penis or a Phallo-clitoris. Which is not true!

Note: when we choose to do hormones and/or surgery at the age of consent and with informed consent, our sex traits can change too!

Sometimes sex traits match conflating binary notions: male/man or female/woman.

Sometimes, like me, sex traits will not match our gender identity or binary notions. We will be nonconforming to binary “science.”

I am an Intersex Man. I have hermaphrodite sex traits. I am also a gestational father or a seahorse dad.

Guess what?

We are all valid!

I believe that conflating sex traits with gender identity has to end if we are ever going to end intersex genital mutilation on nonconsenting children.

Stop IGM

Below is the Prader Scale that describes how only some of us intersex people, like me, are born.

As you can clearly see, these “hermaphrodite” sex traits do not appear simply as endosex male or endosex female.

It has to be up to the child to declare who they are, and surgery on a nonconsenting child is just guessing! No experts know this baby’s gender identity! The child can’t declare it yet.

Therefore, terrible surgical errors are permanently happening to nonconsenting intersex children.

Especially to 46XX babies born with congenital adrenal hyperplasia, born with hermaphrodite traits, who are NOT female or girls!

Like me, they have hermaphrodite traits. Just like some of my surgically violated intersex friends used to have before they were surgically harmed!

Self-determination is a must! “Experts” do not know what they are doing.

“Hermaphrodite” is not a slur to some of us. It’s how we can describe our intersex traits and physiology more accurately. Especially when I go to the ER. One word quickly describes my intersex sex traits!

This is why, to help end intersex genital mutilation, please stop conflating sex traits with gender identity. Educating is a must. It saves intersex babies from IGM (intersex genital mutilation).
