Poem: This world will not disgrace us.

freedom chains

This world will not disgrace us

Tears go down my face, how could this world disgrace?

They say do not fix what is not broken

Yet they tried to fix me

and they tried to fix you too

They said they loved me

Tears go down my face, how could this world disgrace?

They said that I was defective

that what I was could never be

I tried so hard to conform

because

They said they loved me

Tears go down my face, how could this world disgrace?

I was told I was sick

less than

a freak

a black sheep

a failure even

No matter what I did I was never good enough

How could I belong?

I was invisible to your eyes

But

They said they loved me

Tears go down my face, how could this world disgrace?

Out of love, and compassion they cut some of us

They cut to make IT “better”

Guessing our gender wrong all the time

Taking away our pleasure

Taking away our right to be human

Scars that do not grow!

Hormones that are wrong!

They locked me up, and medicated me

They said they loved me

Like a lion that escapes his cage

I finally gained courage

I discovered I was ok

that I did not have to be so sick

I did not ever have to be what you said I was

The lie was always yours

This year I have escaped the bondage!

My human right is mine

This world will not disgrace us

Today

I say I LOVE ME!
