Poems

Poem: No, you will not take my power away.

I am a survivor of much harm.

Over and over again I crawl out of this hole I find myself in.

Why, because I am a survivor.

How dare you tell me I asked for it.

You curse and rant and call me names even.

What is wrong with you?

You won’t take my power away with your dysfunction and disease.

No one asks to be sick from this horrible virus.

Attacking the victim makes you an asshole.

I am a survivor of much harm.

We are not alone, there are thousands of us.

The powerlessness overwhelming.

Over 400,000 dead now and counting.

Over 100,000 dead in our country now.

They believe these numbers are low.

People going into fight or flight.

No, no panic!

Things are being said that will be said with regret.

I am damaged by this virus.

It was left me broken when I was already broken.

I see you are broken too.

….and forgive you.

We are both simply a bag of

broken rocks!
