Here is the “Doctors Opposing Circumcision Genital Integrity Policy Statement”, below. So, why are the genitals of intersex infants still being destroyed? How can one justify “corrective” surgery, when it takes away fertility, and genital integrity?
When an intersex infant is operated on, to assign their gender through surgical “corrective” interventions, they somehow justified taking away sexual sensation, sexual pleasure later in life, as well as taking away fertility; by removing the gonads (ovaries or testicles). This is all allowed to happen to an infant who cannot consent to the surgery.
Worse, they are guessing to the gender of that child; which we now know cannot be determined by our genitals or chromosomes.
Even those who have been circumcised are angry. Here is a statement from doctors; Chapter Nine: International Human Rights Law and the Circumcision of Children.
Doctors Opposing Circumcision Genital Integrity Policy Statement

The various codes of medical ethics that have been enunciated by the medical societies of western nations require medical doctors to respect the human rights of their patients.1-7 It is, therefore, necessary to consider circumcision of children in the light of international human rights law. According to The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF):
Human rights are those rights which are essential to live as human beings – basic standards without which people cannot survive and develop in dignity. They are inherent to the human person, inalienable and universal. 8
This chapter will examine the position of circumcision of children (who are unable to consent to surgery) that was introduced into medical practice in the nineteenth century, under international human rights law, which was adopted by the nations of the world in the twentieth century.
Article 7 provides:
No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. In particular, no one shall be subjected without his free consent to medical or scientific experimentation.
Reasons for concern with the procedure under human rights principles include a profound loss of highly specialized and sensitive sexual tissue, which also serves important protective functions, loss of bodily integrity, traumatic and highly painful disfigurement, complications with a range of severity up to and including death, and the impermissibility of any mutilation of children’s sexual organs performed with neither their consent nor medical justification.14
Here is the UNITED NATIONS Intersex Fact Sheet:
United Nations Intersex Fact Sheet
Taken From the Link Above:
“The UN’s new fact sheet provides a poignant summary of various intersex human rights violations and makes a straightforward call for action, including outlawing all medically unnecessary procedures on intersex children and ensuring families and children receive adequate counseling and peer support. I have no doubt that if parents were presented with this fact sheet and thus realized that the United Nations recognizes cosmetic genital surgery as medical torture, that the number of such surgeries would rapidly decline! Furthermore, doctors can no longer reasonably ignore what activists have been saying for two decades. It’s time for this insanity to stop.” – Kimberly Zieselman
It simply all has to stop!
