Poem: You are not broken to me….

You are not broken to me….

Loving you for who you are

Who you have always been to me

I do not care about all those scars

This world puts you through hell

They convinced you I would leave you

if you honored your true self

How could I leave you after what they did to you?

When you were born you were invisible to them

They lied and said you would be an unlovable man

They raised you a Girl

You reclaim your true gender

I knew all along you were different, that is why I love you

But you really did not change

You are simply growing your beard, your name is different

That is all.

my love, we put the world on its head now!

Like a magic wand, things are magically different now

Because of this ugly world, you doubt I can love you

They said you were unlovable, not worthy of love

We Declare our

I will walk with you

Everything, every facet of our being is affected by your change

You broke the rules!

You are the same person.

This world has to wake up.

This Hate is True insanity!

This poem shows the reflections of my Husband, of twenty-eight years.  He has proven this world wrong.

We are lovable.

A fun picture I just had to share!

A Devastating Update

December 9th, 2022, at 5:53am in the morning, my husband and father of three died in my arms with my son holding his hand.  He started in home hospice, and on the morning of the 6th day, he passed away with me singing “Fix you” to him.  He battled CMML Leukemia since September 15th, 2020, and had a Stem Cell transplant on March 4th, 2021.  The T cells of the grafted bone marrow started to kill him. They call it “Graft Versus Host Disease.”  He fought so hard, with horrors few could imagine, with me as his dedicated care partner and husband at his side to the end.  Our hearts break that he died way too young.  He loved me, and I loved him unconditionally.  We were with each other since 1989, so for thirty-three years.  I have known him since I was 13, in band class, in the 1980s.  We would be married, without knowing it, on Pete Burns’s Birthday, August 5th, 1995.

We were married, till death do us part, for twenty-seven years!  It was not a perfect marriage, but I now know it was imperfectly perfect.  James, you will be deeply missed.  I asked him, and he wanted “Back in Black” played at his memorial/celebration of life.  We had read many audible books together during his last year to cope with all the pain and suffering and to prepare for his death.  Thich Nhat Hanh, The Dali Lamma, Desmond Tutu, and many others,  helped us tremendously.  He died in peace – the end of horrible suffering.

Tears fall forever – some wounds will not heal.  His last words to me:  “We are Knights at the Round Table, I must die now, and you must live on.”  I wanted to follow him.  He gave me my marching orders – and he will live on a legacy.

I promise to be your voice, James.  This world has to stop hating us.
